For those who aren't too sure what marquetry is, we have some very bright friends who didn't, it's intricate inlaid work made from rich wood or other materials.
The lift doors of one of the world's most famous Art Deco buildings, the Chrysler Building, features beautiful exotic marquetry - not something you're ever likely find on the lift doors of your local multi-story!
You'll also find marquetry on quite a few items of modern furniture. As well as producing intricate patterns of geometric shapes, It's particularly effective at showing off the grain of rich wood, helping to make the items of furniture really stand out in their room settings.
